  • Donate to ColdTowne Theater’s New Space Fund!

Five year’s ago, ColdTowne Theater’s founders MICHAEL JASTROCH, ARTHUR SIMONE and JUSTIN YORK fled New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They were taken in by the generous Austin arts and business community, given places to perform and beds to sleep on. Shortly thereafter, with literally no money and no resources, they converted an empty store room into a thriving underground comedy theater.

After five years, the theater we have built has grown so big that we’re literally bursting at the seams. Our lease is up and we have no home to move to. We’re raising funds on behalf of JAM CITY, LLC (a new company created by Arthur, Mike and Justin) to help create a new theater space that will ensure a permanent home for ColdTowne Theater. On October 16th, 2010 we blew our initial fundraising goal of $25K right out of the water, but we still need your help! There are still some great premiums to be had (see below).

    FEATURED PREMIUM
    BUY A CHAIR

ColdTowne Theater CHAIRS are going for the low price of $500 a pop. The first 50 pledges in that amount we get to Donate.coldtownetheater.com will get an attractive, tasteful plaque on one of our theater seats. Something tangable for you to point at and say, “See, I get it. I’m a supporter of the arts.” When you think about it, $500 isn’t so much for a brand new seat in a brand new theater. That’s the price of a small coffee at Starbucks for a year. Instead of that, you’ll be putting your money behind a local arts community.
